Jon co-founded Strategic in 2003. His career in forestry over the last 20 years comprises harvesting, operational planning and project management. Jon began his career with major forest industry companies such as Canadian Forest Products, TimberWest and Weyerhaeuser before taking on consulting roles. As Managing Partner, Jon is responsible for strategic planning, business development and serving as the “voice” of the organization. In addition, Jon is the current president of the Consulting Foresters of BC and past-president of the Association of BC Forest Professionals. Jon is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology Natural Resource Management Program.
Niels Jorgensen, RFT

Niels co-founded Strategic in 2003. He has in-depth experience in operational planning and project management and has spent over 15 years consulting to the natural resource industry. Prior to joining Strategic, Niels worked as an independent consultant in the forest industry as well as in-house for several civil development firms and government agencies. Niels leads Strategic’s goal-oriented approach to managing multi-disciplined projects and mentors the staff in effective management and risk assessments. Niels is a graduate of British Columbia’s Institute of Technology in Natural Resource Management.
Jason Hutchinson, RPF

Jason is a professional forester with over 15 years of forestry experience. He has thorough background in inventory and forestry impact analysis for timber and non-timber resource development and applies best practices for pre- and post harvest forest management of crown and privately owned forestlands. Jason holds a BSc of Forestry, Natural Resource Management from the University of Northern British Columbia.
Aaron Fujikawa, BSc

Aaron is our Geomatics expert. For nearly 20 years, Aaron has specialized in the analysis and mapping of land-use constraints, piping and transmission infrastructure, civil geo-referenced data, vegetative cover and ecosystem mapping. He has instructed Geographic Information Systems at Vancouver Island University and taken on various technical and research analyst roles since graduating with a BSc in Geography from the University of Victoria in 1995.
Aaron Nelson, RPF

Aaron is a professional forester with 15 years of experience in the forest industry. He has managed coastal tree farms, silvicultural reforestation projects and resource development programs. Aaron holds a BSc of Forestry, Natural Resource Management from the University of Northern British Columbia.
Jason Smith, RFT, ATE
Business Line Manager, Timber Evaluation

For the past 15 years, Jason has been responsible for various timber evaluation and vegetation resource inventory roles within the forest industry. Jason is a Registered Forest Technologist and his work experiences have focused on statistical inventory analysis of crown and privately owned forest lands to apply auditable stand attributes, such as value, quality, volume, growth and yield. Jason is a graduate of British Columbia’s Institute of Technology in Natural Resource Management.
Marc Johnson, BA, CGA
Marc has worked as a controller, accounts manager and accountant for the past 18 years in the natural resource and property development industries. Marc holds a BA in Business Administration from the California State University completed in 1992, Graduate Studies in Finance from Seattle University in 1993 and is a member in good standing with the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia.
Tracy O’Malley, CHRP
Human Resources Manager
We rely on Tracy to manage the most important resource of them all - our staff. She has helped us with the hiring, evaluation, and orientation of over 100 full-time employees. Her duties include pre-employment screening, interviewing, injury management, writing policy, as well as mentoring senior managers on best practices in HR and employee performance management. Tracy achieved her Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation with the BC Human Resources Management Association. She graduated from British Columbia’s Institute of Technology with a diploma in Marketing and Advertising.
